Tools
- Element-to-Oxide Conversion Tool. Sedimentary data are reported in wide variety of units and in order to unify data output, values are recalculated by the database into a Standard Database Unit (SDU). Thus, major element data downloaded from SedDB is given in wt%of the element. This tools converts items back into the oxide form for easy comparison to hard rock data.
- GeoMapApp: GeoMapApp is an integrated mapping application, designed to aid data exploration and visualization. GeoMapApp is developed as part of the Marine Geoscience Data System.
- CoreWall: CoreWall is a collaborative project to develop a system for real-time stratigraphic correlation, core description (CD) and data visualization to be used by the marine, terrestrial and Antarctic science communities.
- CHRONOS: CHRONOS is a collaboration of geoscientists and information technology specialists creating a cyberinfrastructure that will deliver open access to a global federation of Earth history databases, tools, and services.
- Google Earth Plotting Tool - Converts geochemical data into KML file. Developed by IFREE/JAMSTEC. Reference: Yamagishi et al. (2006), Integration of Geophysical and Geochemical Data, EOS Trans. AGU, 87(52), Fall Meet. Suppl., Abstract IN11A-1142
Coming soon:
- tools for data extraction with spatial, depth and time domain variables (see table below).
- interpolation tools that provide users the options for matching data sets based on user specified conditions (e.g. samples within specified depth intervals, averaging strategies, interpolation options).
- tools that will allow translating data series into depth, age, variable series.
- map interfaces to the SedDB data set that will allow the user to plot queries on maps. Users will be able to access detailed sample data from the map.
Data Extraction with depth, time, and spatial domain variables assigned
|
Single Variable Analysis |
Variable/Variable Analysis |
Depth Domain |
Extract depth series for individual variables, e.g. depth versus d 18 O, depth versus Ti/Al. Samples not necessarily at matched depth.
|
Integrate variables measured at the “same depths” for variable/variable analysis or calibration. “Same depth” may be a user-defined parameter, i.e. only select Ti and Al if the measurements are made on the exact same samples, at the same depth but different samples or within a specified depth range. |
Time Domain |
Extract depth series for individual variables, e.g. depth versus d 18 O, depth versus Ti/Al. Samples not necessarily at matched depth. Specified Age model assigned. Time series (data sampled at constant D t) computed as specified. |
Variable/Variable time series comparisons can be based on an analysis of time series generated from individual queries or queries using only match variable/variable searches.
|
Spatial/Time Domain |
Extract variables by latitude, longitude and age |
Extract variables measures in the same samples based on latitude, longitude and age |
