About the Data

The SedDB database contains marine and terrestrial sediment geochemical data compiled primarily from the published literature.

Analytical Data

SedDB accommodates the full range of analytical values, from major and trace element concentrations to radiogenic and stable isotope ratios, in both inorganic and organic matrices, for diverse suites of samples (e.g., seafloor and sub-seafloor, lakes and rivers, nodules) and subsamples of material such as individual biological components, leachates, and size fractions. Geological age and age model data (either as assigned sample ages and/or tie points) are available for a number of cores.

Metadata

SedDB contains abundant information about the analytical procedure and data quality, and a wide range of contextual information about the samples (e.g., spatial coordinates, position within a core, lithology, age).

Compilation of data started in 2006, and new data sets are added to the system on a regular basis.

Data Search

SedDB's online interactive search tool allows you to build queries to the SedDB database to extract from the database any combination of chemical data and create your own customized datasets.

DATA CONTRIBUTION

SedDB is a community resource, and as such encourages investigators to actively contribute to the development of the SedDB system and the growth of the data holdings in the SedDB database. SedDB welcomes contributions of geochemical datasets for marine sediments.
